A very interesting overflight of interest on the morning of Friday 18 November was VH-OQA Airbus A380-800 msn 014 Qantas Airways callsign ‘QFA6023’ transiting through Irish Airspace in the Shannon FIR . The aircraft routed overhead Cork at 0720-0730 local en-route from Los Angeles (LAX) to London Heathrow (LHR).

The aircraft routed London Heathrow (LHR) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) the same day.

The aircraft was delivered 19 September 2008 with the outbreak of the global pandemic was ferried Sydney (SYD) to Victorville (VCV) on 10 July 2020 for long-term storage.

A second Qantas Airbus A380-800 registered VH-OQL transited through the Shannon FIR passing over Cork City at 0830 hours on Saturday 17 December as ‘QFA6023’ en-route from Los Angeles (LAX) to London Heathrow (LHR) ex storage at Victorville (VCV) .
