HB-AZB Embraer E190-E2 Helvetic Airways operated its first commercial service of the aircraft type to Cork, Ireland on Friday 3rd September operating on behalf of Swiss International from and to Zurich (LX2561/2560). 

Eight Helvetic Airways Embraer E190-E1s and -E2s are currently operated on behalf of Swiss International Air Lines under a long-term wet-lease agreement.

On 11th May the aircraft received steep approach certification from EASA to operate at airports that require approach slopes greater than the typical 3.0 degrees. The E2’s steep approach capability is enabled through a special software upgrade and installation of a Steep Approach switch on the cockpit control panel and flight crew must be specially trained to fly to/from the airport.

Helvetic Airways was established in 2003 operating to European destinations on scheduled, wet-lease and charter flights. from bases in Bern and Zurich. The carrier operates a fleet of 16 Embraer 190-E2, E195-E2s and E190-E1s and holds purchase rights on a further 12 E2 family aircraft.
