Turkish Airlines has introduced the new Boeing 737 MAX 8 on their Istanbul to Dublin route with TC-LCF operating the inaugural service THY1976/1977 (THY4KM/6DG) on 2 October with aircraft operating the same sector on 12 October.

According to Airline Route the aircraft was due enter service on the route effective from 28 October operating THY1976/1977 daily.

The aircraft is configured in 16 business class seats and 135 economy class seats. The aircraft has new Boeing Sky Interior, LED lightning and larger overhead bins and is powered by technological advanced LEAP-1B engines with the aircraft 14% more fuel efficient than today’s most efficient NGs.

The carrier has selected Rockwell Collins’ MiQ business class seats for the 737 MAX 8 fleet.

The seat includes a four-way adjustable headrest and leg rest. The seat also provides a large console for passenger storage. The aisle seats feature level access in which the aisle-side armrest retracts downwards to allow passengers extra width in the seat, as well as enabling them to swing their knees into the aisle so window-seat passengers may move in and out of the row.

In 2013 Turkish Airlines finalized a firm order for 40 737 MAX 8s, 10 737 MAX 9s and 20 Boeing  737-800 aircraft. The order, originally announced as a commitment in April 2013, also included options for an additional 25 737 MAX 8s which has been exercised and is the largest Boeing order by value in Turkish Airlines’ history.
