Ryanair announced that between January and September 2012 it carried 135,000 passengers to and from Perugia, a growth rate of 17%, however this winter it will cease the Perugia to Milan Bergamo from 27th October due to insufficient traffic on the route, on the plus side is to extend the Charleroi route to year round, and is considering expansion at Perugia with new European routes, as the region looks to develop religious tourism.

Ryanair Sales & Marketing Executive for Ryanair Italy said “We recorded a total of 135,000 passengers, an increase of 17% compared to 2011. We are very pleased with the results, which demonstrate the success of the connections introduced as from the end of 2010 from Perugia to Trapani and Brussels (Charleroi) and always good for London (Stansted).

Ryanair started its operations from Perugia in December 2006 with the route to London (Stansted) and up to September 30, 2012 delivered to / from the airport of Perugia over 550,000 passengers and now offers a total of three locations, two international and one internal, Ryanair estimates of transport for only 2012 more than 165,000 passengers at the airport of Perugia, with a traffic increase of 22% compared to 2011, thus supporting 165 jobs related to tourism and the airport of Perugia and Umbria”.
