The Dublin Institute of Technology along with Ireland Skills is running the Aircraft Maintenance National Skills Competition as part of the 2012 National Skills Competition.

The winner of this competition and the 2013 competition will be eligible for selection as a competitor representing Ireland at the 42nd World Skills Competition which will be held in Leipzig, Germany, July 2013.

Dublin Institute of Technology will host this years Aircraft Maintenance National Skills competition in our facility in Aviation Technology Center, Dublin Airport Business Park.

The competition will run for 3 days from the 11th to 13th September 2012.

The following competitors have been selected to compete in this year’s competition:

1. Colin Burke (TransAero Engineering Ireland)
2. Joe Kelly (TransAero Engineering Ireland)
3. Stephen Mc Grath (TransAero Engineering Ireland)
4. Laura Callaghan (Aer Arann)
5. Michael Keane (Aer Arann)
6. Daniel O Riordain (CityJet)

Over the 3 day competition the competitors will have to complete 6 different modules:

Module 1: Aileron Rigging
Module 2: Sheet Metal Work
Module 3: Borescope Inspection
Module 4: Daily Inspection
Module 5: Propeller Removal, Inspection and Installation
Module 6: Electrical.

All visitors are welcome to attend and view the competitors in action.
