Due to Ireland’s geographic position on global great circle route AirNav Ireland’s Area Control Centre in Shannon handles over 90% of all air traffic on the North Atlantic. This equates to approximately 1,400 -1,500 aircraft transiting Irish Airspace every 24 hours during the peak summer months east and westbound on North Atlantic Tracks depending on weather conditions etc.
