C-GLBG Bombardier Global 8000 msn 70005 callsign “Bombardier 705” arrived in Shannon 25 August from Wichita to undertake a series of development test flights. This airframe MSN70005 was build as a Global 7000 development aircraft , then later modified to a 7500 for the same role and today modified to an 8000, during the test phase, this aircraft broke the sound barrier.
The aircraft conducted a series of Controller Pilot Data Link Communication (CPDLC) trial flights from Shannon over North Atlantic ocean.
According to Bombardier, each aircraft is priced at $78 million, whom describes the Bombardier Global 8000 as ‘The flagship for a new era’ as the fastest business jet ever conceived, with a top speed of Mach 0.94 and the first ever transcontinental ultra-high speed cruise of Mach 0.92, powered by GE Passport engines.
The aircraft has a range of 8,000 nautical mile range and unrivalled short‑field performance, seating up to 19 passengers, enabling exclusive city pairs that are now achievable, including Dubai-Houston, Singapore-Los Angeles, London-Perth. The aircraft features the lowest cabin altitude in its class of 2,900 feet when flying at 41,000 ft. It is also equipped with Bombardier Pũr Air and advanced HEPA filter technology for the fastest fresh air replacement.
The aircraft is expected enter service in 2025, the Global 8000 aircraft development is ongoing, and the program is progressing to plan, launch customer NetJets placed an order for four aircraft in 2022 valued at $312 million dollars. NetJets plans to operate a 24-strong fleet Global 8000 aircraft.
