Aer Lingus utilized its brand-new Airbus A321XLR, two class 184-seat aircraft, for the Dublin-Rome Fiumicino route on March 16, 2025. The aircraft operated return leg for Irish Rugby team post Ireland-Italy Guinness Men’s Six Nations Rugby match held at Stadio Olimpico the day before.

The flight EIN2400/1, was flown by EI-XLT Airbus A321-253NY(XLR) msn 11590, according to Flightradar24.

The A321XLR, with its extended range, offers improved operational flexibility and resilience, making it suitable for short-, medium-, and long-haul routes. As with all Airbus aircraft, the A321XLR aircraft is already able to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Airbus is targeting to have its aircraft up to 100% SAF capable by 2030.
