Aer Lingus positioned EI-LRE Airbus A321-253NXLR msn 10245 from Dublin to Manchester on Monday 29th March to operate a proving flight for the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in anticipation of the awarding of its UK Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
The aircraft departed Dublin as EIN2200 at 0751 local arriving Manchester 0825. The aircraft departed Manchester on its proving flight at 1025 local using callsign ‘EIN1CA’ routing over Ireland into Shanwick oceanic airspace northwest of Ireland and later returned to Manchester landing at 1425 local.
The aircraft departed Manchester at 1601 local as EIN2201 landing in Dublin at 1655 local.
Aer Lingus announced on 24th March the launch its first ever transatlantic services from Manchester to the US and the Caribbean, which will create up to 120 new jobs. The airline s will commence four new routes from Manchester Airport flying to New York JFK and Orlando from 29 July, to Barbados from 20 October and to Boston from summer 2022.
The airline will utilize Airbus A321LR’s on routes to Boston and New York JFK and Airbus A330-300 aircraft on routes to Barbados and Orlando, Aer Lingus the first airline to operate the A321LR on regular scheduled services between the UK and the US.
The carrier intends to transfer EI-EDY Airbus A330-302 msn 1025 and EI-ELA Airbus A330-302 c/n 1106 and two Airbus A321-253NX aircraft EI-LRG msn 10291 , EI-LRH msn 10319 onto the UK registry, as G-EIDY and G-EILA, G-EILG, G-EILH respectively.
