Dublin based ACMI specialist Cityjet announced the acquisition of five CRJ1000 aircraft to support its growing wet-lease business supplementing its existing fleet of 21 CRJ900s. The aircraft will be operated on behalf of Lufthansa Group.
Cityjet becomes the second Irish based operator of the CRJ1000 joining Spanish carrier Air Nostrum subsidiary Hibernian Airlines operating three aircraft.
The aircraft has capacity for 100 Passengers powered by two General Electric CF34-8C5 engines with a range of 3,056km.
EI-HIC was delivered from Ljubljana to Copenhagen on 28 March and positoned Copenhagen to Munich on 1 April commencing operations next day on new Lufthansa ACMI contract operating its first service to Nice. The aircraft was build and delivered to Brit Air in October 2011 as F-HMLL until June 2022 when re-registered as F-WTBA to Jetcraft. In March 2023 the aircraft was registered as OE-LIK to EIC Aircraft Leasing, prior delivery to Cityjet.
