The first direct flight route between Israel and Ireland was launched on Thursday 16th March, by EL AL from Tel Aviv to Dublin three times weekly using Boeing 737-800 aircraft operating on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, ahead of planned start date Sunday 26 March due strong demand.
The first service was operated by 4X-EXJ Boeing 737-85P msn 35486 ELY302 arriving 1610 departing 1800 as ELY304 to Milan Malpensa.
Dublin Airport Managing Director Vincent Harrison said “The addition of this direct route will open up a new sun destination for Irish travellers and is likely to prove popular also with those seeking to make a pilgrimage journey to the Holy Land. The route will also come as good news to the ever-growing number of Israeli businesses that are present in Ireland.”
Israel’s Transport Minister Miri Regev said “The direct flights will contribute to strengthening the economic, cultural, tourism, and academic ties between the two nations, and to improving the relationship between the governments.”
Irish Ambassador to Israel Kyle O’Sullivan said “The relationship between the two countries is very important. Many Israelis work in Ireland, and thanks to the new route, tourism will flourish.”
