Emirates has revealed that Australia was the top destination for Irish passengers in 2023 with families going to visit their loved ones abroad and Australia is predicted to be one of the top destinations for Irish passengers in 2024.
In 2023, Australia was named as Ireland’s top destination when flying with Emirates, as thousands of passengers headed down under for holidays and to visit family and friends. Sydney, Melbourne and Perth were the most visited Australian cities by Irish passengers.
Emirates announced it has taken the final step in the restoration of its Australia capacity announcing its return to Adelaide. A daily 302 seat Boing 777-200LR service with 38 Business Class seats and 264 seats in Economy Class, will relaunch between the South Australia capital and the airline’s Dubai hub on 28 October 2024 with convenient connections with twice daily Boeing 777-300ER service to and from Dublin.
The carrier expects Dublin to be a key outbound destination from Adelaide last served in 2019. The route will deliver an estimated $160 million (€96 million) to the state in tourism expenditure and freight exports.
By December 2024, Emirates will return to its pre-pandemic capacity offering 77 weekly services to Australia , operated by a mix of A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft with the ability to transport 68,000 passengers per week to and from Australia.
