Travelmedia.ie hosted a Galicia Tourism Cluster media and travel event in the Dean Hotel Dublin on Thursday 9 February.  Dublin was selected as its first destination by the Galicia Tourism Cluster to start the internationalisation activities of Destination Galicia in 2023

Galicia is highly significant for the Irish market its world famous Camino de Santiago walk, also known as the Way of St. James, is a renowned religious journey with varying routes covering nearly 500 miles (900km). The French Way is the most popular and sociable route chosen by over 60% of pilgrims.

The president of the Cluster, Cesáreo Pardal said “We are a land of contrasts in which each visit will be experienced in a different way”. Pardal highlighted the efforts of professionals in the Galician tourism sector so that “Each person who comes to Galicia returns home with an experience to remember and with the desire to return because there is not just one Galicia, there are many”.

Irelad has excellent connectivity to Santiago de Compostela, the capital of Galicia and gateway to the region.  Aer Lingus operates Dublin to Santiago de Compostela (SCQ) four times weekly from 26th March to 30th September. Ryanair operates operates twice weekly from 11th March, increasing to four times weekly from 25th March to 28th October.

The region is also accessiable from Ryanair’s London Stansted base as the carrier will inaugurate new year round service between Vigo and London Stansted commecing March 28th coinciding with the Reconquest and Easter, operating three times weekly increasing travel options.
