The Irish Aviation Authority announced Commercial terminal traffic in May increased by 2.1% at the three State airports of Cork, Dublin Shannon when compared to May 2012 and on a cumulative basis, commercial terminal traffic at the three airports for January to May was up 0.7%  compared to the same period in 2012.

The May 2013 figures for the three State airports, when compared to the same month in the previous year are:

Cork Airport: + 5.4%  with an average of 61 commercial daily movements.

Dublin Airport: + 4.2% , with an average of 477 commercial daily movements.

Shannon Airport: -6.3%, with an average of 54 commercial daily movements.

The IAA’s traffic figures for May 2013 indicate that total flights in Irish airspace have decreased by 0.2% when compared to May 2012. There was a decrease of 0.7% in Ireland’s en-route traffic movements (flights that pass through Irish airspace but do not land) during May 2013, in comparison to May 2012.

North Atlantic Communications flights (Europe /North America) saw an increase of 1.4% in May 2013, when compared to May 2012.

Further positive indicators for growth in traffic at Irish airports can be seen in data from Eurocontrol for May 2013 which shows that eight of Ireland’s top ten ‘Airport Pairs’ showed growth (or neutral growth), when compared to May 2012.
