 Pope Francis has traveled on an Irish registered Alitalia aircraft EI-EJM Airbus A330-202 c/n 1308 AZA4000,  from Rome Fiumicino to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to celebrate the 28th World Youth Day, on his first overseas trip since becoming pontiff in March.

The pope tweeted his excitement over his ensuing arrival in Brazil after departing Rome. “Shortly after departing I am arriving in Brazil in a few hours and my heart is already full of joy because soon I will be with you to celebrate the 28th World Youth Day,” said the pope using his @Pontifex Twitter account.
