Irish budget carrier Ryanair has announced it’s largest ever Milan expansion for Summer 2017, increasing traffic from Milan to 11.3 million as the carrier lifts capacity by 18%. Overall  the carrier plans to carry 35 million passengers from Italy increasing market share to 37 percent, allocating an additional 10 aircraft to the Italian market opening a total 44 new routes.

For Summer 2017 from Milan Bergamo 5 new routes will be launched to Bordeaux (4 per week), Edinburgh (5 per week), Luxembourg (4 per week), Oradea (2 per week) and Vigo (2 per week) with 9 new summer routes to Belfast, Gdansk, Hamburg, Nis, Nuremberg, Oslo, Ostrava, Prague and Timisoara, operating a total of 76 routes carrying 9.9 million passengers.

In Milan Malpensa it’s 73 European base five 5 new summer routes will be launched to Brussels (2 daily), Catania (4 per day), Gran Canaria (1 per week), Porto (4 per week) and Sofia (daily), along with an increase in frequencies to Bucharest, operating a total of 9 routes carrying 1.4 million passengers.

Milan is home to an estimated population of 1.3 million people, while its wider hinterland area of 5.26 million is ranked as the fifth largest in the EU, Bergamo is close to flanking Dublin to become the second largest base of the Ryanair network.
