Shannon Airport is the first airport in the world, outside of the Americas, to offer Full US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) per-clearance facilities to airlines travelling to the USA. In 1986 the US opened the United States border pre-clearance facility at Shannon.

This facility enables airlines to land at any airport in the USA enabling passengers to pre-clear all formalities for US Immigration, Customs and Agriculture.

Shannon Airport is a well established technical stop for aircraft en-route to the USA accordingly the airport offers dedicated facilities for Business jet operators to pre-clear US CBP which opened on 1st March 2010.

Aer Lingus, British Airways on it’s twice daily business flight London City to New York JFK route which stops in Shannon, Delta Airlines and United Airlines use US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) pre-clearance facilities at Shannon
